2008 volkswagen passatSome misperceptions take time to change. This one will take 6.2 seconds. That’s the time it takes the Passat’s 3.6-liter, 280 horsepower, VR6 engine with 265 lb-ft of torque to hit 60 miles per hour from a dead stop. You’re probably saying “The Passat? Really?” “Yup, and our 2.0 turbo is no slouch either, besting other more expensive” German engineered sedans in a sprint from 0-60.* But there’s more than meets the engine with the Passat. Its 2008 refinements and state of the smart technology will leave you wide-eyed as well. Passat. Who knew?
At the heart of every Passat is the ultra efficient and über powerful FSI® engine. It’s 25% more fuel efficient than conventional engines because it doesn’t waste a single drop of fuel. Its straight injection system pumps fuel directly into the combustion chamber in both the Passat’s 3.6L, 280hp, VR6 and its 2.0 Turbo, 200hp, 4-cylinder engines. Less waste. Less lag time. And that means lower emissions, higher MPGs (VR6 – 26 HWY, 4-cylinder – 29 HWY). What’s more, the VR6 is mounted transversely to fit into the same amount of space as the 4 cylinder, creating extra legroom inside the cabin. Faster. Smarter. Bigger. By German engineering.
