AUDI A4 CABRIOLET 3.0 Litre Multitronic Review. Head-turning styling and the opportunity to enjoy open-air motoring are obviously major attractions of the new Audi A4 Cabriolet, but there’s also plenty of substance behind the car’s attractive façade. Technology, innovation, safety and luxury all rate highly in the Cabriolet, and together, make it a strong contender amongst its luxury cabriolet/convertible rivals.
The A4 Cabriolet is not lacking in luxury equipment either. Standard items include automatic air conditioning with sun sensors, and power operation of seats (heated), windows, mirrors (also heated) and the hood. There’s a high grade Bose sound system with nine speakers, an acoustic park distance warning system, a comprehensive security system and a suitably impressive leather and wood interior.
Riding on wide, low profile tyres and sitting low to the ground (the low ground clearance demands some care over spoon drains and the like), the A4 cabriolet looks like it should handle well and it does. The various dynamic and traction controls supplement the well-sorted chassis to provide very safe handling and high levels of traction. Whilst the A4 Cabriolet’s price dictates that it’s unlikely to ever become a volume seller, those who are in the fortunate position of being able to afford a luxury cabriolet would do well to have a look and a drive.
The A4 Cabriolet is a smart looking car with its hood up or down, it is extremely well built, it has all the safety and luxury equipment you would expect in a $100,000-plus car, and it provides a very pleasing driving experience.
